How to Melt Chocolate
Melting chocolate is so fun and also a great skill to know. I have learned to make so many things by just melting chocolate. There is a trick to this and I am no chocolatier, so don’t come after me if you are a professional and there is a fancy way of doing this.
The first part of this process is getting your double boiler in place, to do this grab a medium size pan and bowl. The bowl may be slightly bigger but not smaller than your pot. Fill the pot halfway with water, and bring it to a boil. Place the bowl on top and turn the pot down to low. Pour in your chocolate chips and allow the chocolate to melt slowly.
Use a baking spatula to move the chocolate around if you have one. Add 1/8 tsp of coconut oil per cup of chocolate chips. Some chocolate can be richer or dryer and may need more or less coconut oil. Adding this bit of coconut oil will help the chocolate be more manageable however, do not overdo the coconut oil because the chocolate will become very soft and melt much too easily.
Now that your chocolate is more manageable you can dip and cover anything your heart desires. Put into a mold and make your own chocolate bars for holidays and parties. You can even add in nuts, candy, and fruit, for instance, I love making this chocolate-covered strawberry bouquets
Place your chocolate-covered goods on wax paper or even foil, and place in the fridge till chocolate is hard again. Once the chocolate has hardened you are free to eat or arrange in any way you like. This is great for gifts, birthdays, ect…. Or just for fun.
